He became my mentor and taught me everything about business, music and how to sustain success.”As a current resident of Northern California and Professor of Music at UC Berkeley, Henderson has influenced the lives of hundreds of young men specifically African-American men across the country. His impact has penetrated hundreds of lives both directly and indirectly. “I was deeply honored by this very humbling consideration [for Grammy]” says Professor Henderson. With over 32 years in education, Professor Henderson considers it an incredible privilege to have encouraged, lead and counseled students in every level of educational achievement possible.Though separated by geographic distance, Henderson is forever and always connected to the uplifting of lives through those he mentors.In his footsteps, Jonathan DeCuir is making his mark by enhancing and uplifting lives through dedicated mentoring, public speaking and books. As the author of two books, facilitator of character development in the workplace with Los Angeles County’s Department of Parks and Recreation R.E.A.A.C.H. program and the Jackie Robinson Center where he facilitates a 16 week curriculum on character development that targets the city’s vulnerable youth and those who are impacted by gang affiliation and lifestyle Jonathan carries the living legacy of Henderson through his work in the Pasadena community.
