Share LocalNews Rotary Club of Dominica captures ‘Changemaker Award’ by: – May 3, 2012 Tweetcenter_img Share Share Assistant Governor Grayson Stedman Sr presenting Rotary Club President Marvlyn Birmingham with the Changmaker Award on WednesdayThe Rotary Club of Dominica has been bestowed with the “Changemaker Award’ by Rotary International President Kalyan Banerjee.The award was introduced by President Banerjee during the 2011-2012 Rotary year, challenging Rotarians to “focus on change”.The award was implemented to recognize Rotary Clubs that make an “extraordinary impact through their work in the avenues of service” as explained by Banerjee.“2011-2012 will be the year of the individual Rotarian, the year when we recognize and applaud all that they do for Rotary and for the lives of others whom they do not know and have not met,” Banerjee noted.Clubs had to choose from a menu consisting of 34 activities and projects and complete a minimum of 13 including a minimum number for each avenue of service and all activities were to be undertaken and completed between 1 July 2011 and 1 March 2012.Assistant Governor Grayson Stedman Sr who presented Rotary Club President Marvlyn Birmingham with the award on behalf of President Banerjee on Wednesday congratulated the organization for their work.He also congratulated Birmingham for her leadership as the Club has been featured in the Rotary International’s magazine several times for the year as they have embarked on many projects.The Rotary District comprises of 69 clubs and the Rotary Club of Dominica was one of six clubs to receive the Changemaker Award.They also surpassed the minimum number of projects required, having completed 20 out of the 34 which were given.Dominica Vibes Newslast_img
