(Photo By Gregory Shamus/Getty Images)Down 7-6 late in the third quarter of a defensive slug fest, Michigan State football was forced to punt from his own end zone.Rather than attempt the kick in serious pressure, it appears that Michigan State opted to take a safety, giving Ohio State a three-point lead and handing a dangerous, if cold, Buckeye offense the ball back.At first it looked like a horrendous snap over the punter’s head, but based on his lack of effort to jump for the snap, it does look like it was intentional.Video of the controversial Michigan State football punting decision, via Eleven Warriors:#BIG— Eleven Warriors (@11W) November 10, 2018If it was a field position play, Michigan State turned around and made a serious mistake on the ensuing kick, punting the ball out of bounds for a penalty.Ohio State took over at the 50-yard line, and has a chance to extend the lead to two scores with a touchdown. Of course, those have been extremely rare.Dwayne Haskins threw for a touchdown to Parris Campbell, but that is the only time anyone has reached the end zone in this one.last_img read more
