BROADBAND MAPPING PLAN TO SPOT GAPS IN DONEGAL SUPPLY

first_imgA new Broadband Mapping Service is to spot areas in Donegal where the State needs to intervene and support broadband provision. The new plan has been welcomed by Labour Senator Jimmy Harte. He said it will be particularly useful across Donegal because of its sheer geographical nature. “The Mapping service announced by Minister Rabbitte will identify the areas where commercial providers will offer fast broadband. We will then be able to spot the gaps in the system’s areas where it is less viable for these operators to provide broadband, with the result that those areas can be targeted with state supported investment.“I welcome the fact that maps drawn up under the new Service will be published for public consultation. It will ensure the ordinary citizen can find out the viability of broadband in their locality, and how quickly they are likely to be serviced with fast broadband.“I urge commercial operators to sign up to the Mapping Service, which will help to drive forward the key aim of the National Broadband plan – to offer a minimum 30mbps or more to all parts of the country.“It shows Minister Rabbitte’s determination to see this plan through to connect communities all over rural Ireland, driving the competitiveness of the Irish economy.”  ENDSBROADBAND MAPPING PLAN TO SPOT GAPS IN DONEGAL SUPPLY was last modified: July 1st, 2013 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:broadbanddonegalSenator Jimmy Hartelast_img read more
